Moxie Fab World Wood You Challenge - one more card

OK, seriously, this is my last offering for the Moxie Fab World Wood You Challenge to use wood grain on a paper craft (http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2009/04/wood-you-challenge.html). I just really like wood grain as a design element!

March 2011 issue

The hibiscus flower is colored like wood grain using the Gina K Stamp TV method as noted in the previous post. The flower itself is a Cricut Storybook die cut. I didn't realize it until I was finished with the card but the light colored paper on the right side of the card has a wood grain background. Guess I was just in the wood grain frame of mind.

I'm off to bed now. I had wanted to make another wood grain offering of a school house but that'll just have to wait for another day. I'm addicted to challenges!!

Wood You? Moxie Fab World woodgrain challenge.

Moxie Fab World is hosting a woodgrain challenge this week (http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2009/04/wood-you-challenge.html). Woodgrain patterns are so trendy right now.

My first offering is a sassy little seagull. I love all the birds in the Inkadinkado clear stamps set by Amy Smyth "Bird Assortment" (http://www.addictedtorubberstamps.com/ProductDetail?ProductDetail.SKU=6-758-673646&ProductDetail.ListIndex=2). They all have such attitude. My woodgrain paper comes from DCWV's Green Stack. I weathered-up the wood a bit with some "cracks". The background is brayered.

Hero Arts mayflowers challenge

Here's my contribution to the Hero Arts mayflowers challenge (http://heroarts.com/blogs/club/2009/04/27/motivating-you-with-spring-flowers/).

I created the flower, leaves, and butterflies using heart stamps. You can see in the pic below the stamps next to the card. The flower center and the butterfly bodies are covered with beads.

Studio Calico NSD Challenge - Just Breathe

I'm submitting this layout for multiple challenges issued by Studio Calico (http://www.studiocalico.com/) design team for National Scrapbook Day. Leave everyone some love - I know it's really appreciated.




The idea behind this layout is that I need to step back, relax, and just breathe to embrace simple creativity amid the cacophony that is patterned paper, ink, tools, pictures, and embellishments that surround and envelope me in my scrap area. My pic separated from the craziness of the paper by the expanse of white space is supposed to represent the need for me to separate myself from all the "noise". I now understand the idea that "less is more". I have way too much available to me and it sometimes stunts my creativity. I love challenges where they give you a limited number of items to play with - you can be so much more creative that way. The text on the layout is: "shhh..calm down embrace the white space just breathe..."

I'm not a HUGE fan of the pic of me on this layout but I guess it shows a bit of scrapbook stress on my face (LOL). I printed this out at one of those Kodak kiosks in Target. I spent a long time trying to really bleach out the picture, sort of overexpose it, using what limited resources they present you on that machine. It was the only pic I printed out and the poor woman took one look at the pic and seriously gave me a look of pity. Not sure if it was for the "poor" quality of the pic or the poor quality of the subject. Ha ha!

Anniversary Card

Here's the card I made for my hubby for our 7th anniversary a few days ago. Used DCWV Green Stack, Cricut Zooballoo for the grass, SU! ribbon and punch.
