Sketchy Alchemy

Or Gauche Thursdays?

This month, Sketchy Thursdays' October Guest Design Team Challenge is being sponsored by Gauche Alchemy!   And we were all so excited to team up that we also wanted to play together so both the DT from GA and our ST DT all made projects using the GDT sketch!!!

My layout may look a little familiar...I made it (and shared it) back in October of last year.  But I just loved the composition of it so I turned it into this sketch!  See?  Sketches can be inspired by or from layouts!

I think I most like the strip of eyelets on the page.  We all have a truckload of them from back when they were all the rage, right?  I still love using them.  They give such an edgy or industrial feel.  Gotta use that Crop-a-dile for more than hole punching, right?

Come check out the Gauche Alchemy and Sketchy Thursdays inspiration for this sketch.  Everyone really brought their A game!  And then let's see what you can do with the sketch!!  Not only will the winner get to be Sketchy Thursdays' October Guest Design Team member but they'll also win GA's newest kit "Nature Calls"!

Full content description on the ST post.  There's A LOT!

You have until Saturday, September 18 at 11:59pm EST to post a direct link to your layout on THIS POST (click here) to enter!

Hope you have an inspired and creative weekend!

Sketchy Thursdays Guest Design Team Challenge

The September (gasp!) Sketchy Thursdays Guest Design Team Challenge is up on the blog!!!!

I'm pretty proud of my sketch this time, which includes a digi patterned paper I made myself (the text one).  I'm getting better at this digi stuff every day!

You can enter your layout based on this sketch by commenting a direct link to it in the comments on THIS POST on the Sketchy blog by Saturday August 21 at 11:59pm EST.

This challenge is being sponsored by an old ST sponsor friend, Snobby Walrus Paper Crafts.

And you will NOT believe the fabulous prize they're offering up.  Take a look.

YES, that's a main kit, 2 splurge add-on kits, and a Smooch ink add-on kit with those two scrumptious colors!  For a complete list of what is contained in these kits hit the ST blog.  If you think it looks like there's a lot in this prize, just wait until you lay eyes upon just how long the parts lists are!   And this is OVER a $70 value!!!!

I have absolutely fallen in love with the Snobby Walrus kits.  The layout I made for Thursday's ST sketch was made from Snobby Walrus's July kit.

Come, play along with us on ST.  We'd love to have you for our GDT!

And don't forget to browse a bit in the Snobby Walrus store and in their forum and on their blog!

Hope you have great plans for the weekend!!

Stay cool!

Happy Saturday

Made a few cards recently.  A few with the new Lawn Fawn Stamps.  OMG.  These stamps are fabulous.  They stamp so crisp!!!!  I'll share these cards over the next few days or so.

Oct/Nov 2010 issue - Lawn Fawn stamps review

The dictionary page and fairy card are from the lovely Diana's etsy shop Design By Diana.

I misted the dress form stamp with both a green and a pink.  I love how it came out.  The image is stamped on a file folder so it accepted the mist well without warping.  I just discovered the Autumn Leaves Stampology ink made for clear stamps and I have to say it works very nicely.  I'd been having problems with inconsistent saturation of color when using both StazOn and Stampin' Up! ink on clear stamps.

Details:  Sew Lovely stamp by Lawn Fawn Stamps, Autumn Leaves Stampology ink, ephemera from Design By Diana etsy shop, Cosmo Cricket tiny alpha, Prima pearl, Maya & Glimmer Mists, Stampin' Up! cardstock, file folder, thread, unknown velvet ribbon.

And since it's Saturday and Saturdays are for most people happy, feel-good days, I'm going to acknowledge two blog awards I received just recently.  Amazingly they both came in on the same day!  Talk about a feel-good day!  I'm so honored to have touched and been touched by these two amazing women:

Kandi from Krafty Kandi Krafts gave me the Beautiful Blogger Award.

And can you believe, THIS is what she said:  "...I have scrappers envy when it comes to Heidi's awesome scrapbook pages. She does things I'd never dare to do, let alone even think of! She is sassy and spunky and it totally shows on her pages. If I could aspire to be a better scrapbooker I would start with trying to scraplift some of her totally rad pages."

I am BLOWN AWAY by this.  Humbled.  WOW.  Kandi just validated every creative thing I've ever dared to share.  Thank you SO MUCH Kandi.

OK, for this award, I'm supposed to share 10 things you may not know about me and then pass this along to 10 bloggers who have inspired me.  Well, I've got a room full of cleaning and organizing to get to today so I'm going to leave this little bit until later, maybe tomorrow.  ;oD

As mentioned, on the SAME day (wow!), the beautiful Miss Ally left me the Sunshine Award.  Poor Miss Ally.  I stalk her.  She has just the sweetest spirit, makes the most rad stuff, and has the most beautiful (and photogenic) family, including their newest addition the Hankster, who is just so sweet you want to eat him up!   Again, I'll pass along the award later when I'm more organized.  (OK, I'll do it later...You know it.  I know it.  I'm never going to be more organized!)

Moving right along...a little more business to attend to.

Today is the last day to submit an entry for the Sketchy Thursdays April Guest Design Team Member!  And wouldn't you know it, the winner will get the  Ninja Addicts' Three Little Birds kit designed by both the beautiful Miss Ally and one of Sketchy's newest Design Team Members the amazing Miss Nely!!!!!

Also, today is Jenn's birthday so she's offering a 30% discount on all order at the Torendi shop over $30 for her big 3-oh!  Hop on over and check it out.   (And don't forget to leave her some birthday love!)

Oh, I'm soooo using this image for my bday in a couple weeks, LOL!

OK, I think that's it for today.  Whew!

Hope your Saturday is shaping up as lovely as mine.

Sketchy Thursday & January Guest DT Challenge

Sorry I've been MIA for a few days.  I'm trying to finish up a *real* paying job and expect to be working on it every waking moment for the next week so I'll probably be a bit spotty this week, too.  Please stick with me!  I'll be back asap, I promise.

As a result, I wasn't able to participate in this week's Sketchy Thursdays challenge but the rest of the Design Team did an amazing job!  Go check it out!  Here's the sketch:

Link up your project to Mr. Linky in the Sketchy sidebar by Wednesday 12/9 for your chance to win this cute ensemble of goodies from Goshery Shop:

Also, be sure to stop by for our introduction to our December Guest Design Team Member Julie!!!!!

She is so much fun and such a great talent!  Check out her blog, too!  Leave her some love!

Speaking of Guest Design Team...the Sketchy Thursdays January GDT Challenge is up, too!!!!!

Make a layout based on these criteria:

* three patterned papers from three different lines (they can be the same manufacturer, just have to be from different collections)

* three groups of three different embellies

* and use this "vintage" Sketchy Thursdays sketch:

Post a direct link to your layout in the comments of THIS POST by Friday, December 18 at 11:59pm EST for your chance to become our January GDT AND win this prize from Blue Moon Scrapbooking:

Hope you have a great Saturday and if I don't post again, Sunday too!

BLOG CANDY IS GROWING!!

My visitors counter just tipped over 16K!!  Which mean MORE CANDY added to my blog candy pot.

How about a retired Stampin' Up! stamp set this time??

All I Have Seen

This is a set of 4 wood-mounted rubber stamps (brand new, unmounted) that is no longer available.  These would make GREAT layout embellies or beautiful cards.  Silhouettes are so hot right now!

So, what're we up to now?  A 147-pc scrapbook set, a beautiful Stampin' Up! Designer Series 12x12 Paper pack, and now a 4-pc stamp set.

Great for family layouts!

Just in time for the winter holidays!

A reminder on how to win this candy:

I will give everyone who comments on THIS ORIGINAL POST by 11:59pm EST November 30 an entry to win this candy, which will be drawn randomly on December 1.

Everyone who is a follower will get an entry also.

And, everyone who posts about my blog candy will get another entry. Please make a unique comment to this original post with the link to where you posted. If you post more than one place (your blog, a forum *where allowed*, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) make a separate comment for each link. I'm leaving it up to you guys to a) give yourselves as many entries as you want by commenting on separate comments - as in, I'm not going to comb thru looking for comments that should count as 2 entries, and b) I'm trusting you guys to not "cheat" for entries - but none of my followers would do that because you are all a great bunch of people, so this is a moot point! LOL!

If you post about my blog candy in your sidebar, come back and comment AGAIN with the link for another entry.

And remember, I'll keep adding to the blog candy pot until 11/30.

For every 1000 hits, I'll add something else!!  (So at 17K, 18K, etc.)

Aaaand, if I hit 100 followers, I'll kick in something else!

AND, for every 25 followers after that I'll kick in more!!!

CRAZY I tell ya!!

See, the way I see it, yes it's fun to see hits and comments and followers, but for every person who reads this blog I'm also exposing them to all the Design Teams I'm on and great sites and blogs I've got listed in my sidebar so it's a virtual lovefest for everyone involved!!!

So, come one!  Help a girl out helping my favorite blogs and challenges and sites out!!  Spread the word!!  Remember that 70s shampoo commercial?  You tell 2 friends, and she'll tell 2 friends, and she'll tell 2 friends, and so on, and so on, and so on...
