One more birthday card...

One more birthday card for the Paper Crafts Connection 2009 Gallery Idol challenge and the Bitten By the Bug challenge:

The cute little retro flower is from the Cricut Accent Essentials cartridge. The checkerboard background is another Silhouette diecut that I cut in white and colored with markers. Can you see that the flower and the yellow-green squares are shiney with Crystal Effects?

I got the idea for this retro-like card from the signage at a local frozen yogurt shop this weekend. No, this is not the same colors but it's the same "feel". And, I can't wait to make something else with these colors:

Details: Paper - Basic Grey, Stampin' Up!, The Paper Co.; Ink - SU!, Marvy Uchida; Diecuts - Cricut, Silhouette; My Sentiments Exactly! stamp; SU! Crystal Effects; Michaels ribbon.

Happy Birthday cards

Paper Crafts Connection is hosting a Gallery Idol 2009 challenge. The first task is birthday cards.

This first card has a vintage-y, romantic feel. I love the Kewpie images of the Clear Arts Stamps stamps.

The flowers are from the Cricut Walk In My Garden cartridge. I colored them with a bit of ink and some of them are touched with a little Stickles. They're all distressed with my fingernail and bent up a bit and then covered with Crackle Medium. The photo corners are also covered with Crackle Medium.

The card is based on a sketch on Bitten By the Bug:

This next card is a little more modern and graphic.

The cherries are a Unity Stamp Co. stamp, colored with ink and hit with some Stickles. The little tag is a Quikutz Squeeze diecut.

The cool checkerboard background is a Silhouette diecut. Have I mentioned how much I love the Silhouette images - when my cutting mats are cooperating?

Details (Kewpie): Paper - Crafty Secrets, The Paper Co.; Clear Arts Stamps stamps; Ink - StazOn, Stampin' Up!; Cricut & Quickutz Squeeze diecuts; Fiskars border stamp; Stickles; Ranger Crackle Medium; SU! ribbon; pin, beads.

Details (Cherry): The Paper Co. paper; Unity Stamp Co. stamp; Quickutz Silhouette and Squeeze diecuts; Ink - StazOn, SU!; Zig Millenium pen; ribbon, floss.

TFL!!

Paper Crafts Connection Cards & Gifts Week Mother's Day Challenge

All last week Paper Crafts Connection (http://papercraftsconnection.com/) and Moxie Fab World (http://www.moxiefabworld.com/) have been celebrating the release of their newest special publication 225 Cards & Gifts with lots of fun giveaways and a Mother's Day challenge. To see all the submissions from all the amazingly talented paper crafters out there, go to http://www.flickr.com/groups/cardsandgiftsweekchallenge/.

Stella Ruby Birds Note Card Set

My first submission is a note card set that I will be giving my mom for Mother's Day this year. I think she'll really love the colors, images, and especially the Stella Ruby Basic Grey paper. All the bird images, from a gorgeous set by Inkadinkadoo called Gem Stone Birds, are heat embossed to add that great touchey-feeley quality to the cards. All cards also include machine stitching (which, I admit, is not my forte' but adds to the homemade feel of the cards).

Details: Stamps - Inkadinkadoo Clear Stamps 98849 Gem Stone Birds; Paper - Basic Grey Stella Ruby 6x6 pad; Ink - VersaMark; Embossing Powder - Tim Holtz Distress Powder, Ink It! Embossing Powder, Judi*Kins Embossing Powder; Punches - SU!, Fiskars; Other - Carolace, thread, Halcraft blank notecards.

Urban Couture Snack Set

My second submission is a snack set I made using Basic Grey Urban Couture paper. I will be using this particular set myself. :) I love how especially this line of BG paper gives a distressed feel without all the work!

Details: Paper - Basic Grey Urban Couture 12 x 12; Other - Making Memories paint, Stickles, Mod Podge, misc. wooden boxes.

Thanks so much for looking! Leave me a comment - let me know what you think.

Woooooohoooooo! I won! I won!

I won the daily drawing at http://www.papercraftsconnection.com/ from Monday 4/20! They were doing a feature on Maren Benedict (http://www.zanynotcrazy.com/) (L-O-V-E her stuff) and she was giving away the new Paper Crafts feature magazine 225 Card and Gifts and (AND, AAAAAND) the Unity Stamp Co. Tiny Trinity stamp set (http://www.unitystampco.com/stamps?search=tiny+trinity). I have been stalking the Unity Stamp Co. Thursday Blog Hop since it started but I've never been able to participate because I haven't been able to afford a Unity set yet. I almost broke down last week and purchased the Tiny Trinity set. But now I've WON it! I can't wait until it arrives!!

OK, so yes, it was a random drawing - not a card or layout contest, but darn it all, I feel over the moon! That just made my day. So wooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooo!
