First Grade Here I Come!!!!

I know I'm repeating myself here but by 9:45am PST today my little, itty, bitty, baby boy will be an official

FIRST GRADER!!!!!!!

This picture was taken the morning of his Kindergarten graduation photos.  He just looks so darn grown up here to me!  ~sob~

I used this week's Sketchy Thursdays sketch:

Does it look a little familiar????  I based it on one of my fave layouts I've made:

This layout was based on another sketch I made a few months back.  LOL.  See the original post HERE to see the original sketch inspiration.

Check out what the rest of the Sketchy Thursdays DT made for your inspiration.

I'd love for you to play along with us, too.  Need a little extra encouragement?  How about that the prize is Copics??!!!!

I'm off to continue lavishing the new first grader with well-deserved praise and love!

Heidi

P.S.  Don't forget my Torendi GIVEAWAY.  All you need to do to enter is add a comment on THIS POST HERE.  The deadline is tonight, Thursday 6/3, 11:59pm EST.

Sketchy Thursdays, Copics, & {ippity}

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Hope you had a nice New Year's Day!!

Today over on Sketchy Thursdays we're bringing you a new Second Chance Challenge.  Since we've had such awesome response to our card sketch challenges, I'm bringing you another one:

Ooh, take a squint at the upper left corner of that sketch.  Do ya see it?  Here, let me make it a little bigger for you...

Yeppers!  That baby says, "Sketchy Thursdays by Heidi"!!!!!!!  I can finally legitimately say "our sketches"!!!  This is my first sketch.  I'm nervous.  Hope you like it.  (You'll tell me if it stinks, right?  Seriously.  Tell me.  Definitely not Diana-caliber, a bit flat perhaps, but my sketch and Photoshop skills can only get better from here, right? LOL.)

Anyhoo, pop on over to the Sketchy Thursdays blog to take a gander at what some of the design team made with this sketch for your inspiration.

January 2011 issue

Just had to make something with one of my new rockin' {ippity} stamps.  The adorable heart is from the Because of You set.  (Click here to see the entire {ippity} line I have available for order.)

Had to break out my BBF the sewing machine again.  The "ruffles" are made of paper that I dampened a bit and crumpled up, then stitched on.
So, of course, we don't bring you challenges on Sketchy Thursdays without awesome prizes!

Woohoo!  Go iCopic.com!  They've been such a generous sponsor!  This is a Copic Ciao Set of 8 Manga Primary Kit Marker + 1 Multiliner Pen  What a great Copic starter set!

So, all you have to do is hook up your card or layout inspired by my sketch to the comments on the iCopic Second Chance Challenge post over on Sketchy Thursdays by 11:59pm EST 1/12 for your chance to win them!

Have a great weekend!

Cheers! (Who wants Copics??!!)

'Tis the season for holiday cheer (and cheers!).

Holiday Sampler 2010
This is based on a card sketch by Diana!  Today over on the Sketchy Thursdays blog we're having a Second Chance Challenge using this sketch:

Can you tell that the square the martini is on is all shimmery?  I covered it in VersaMark Dazzle and clear embossing powder.

We skipped our regular Sketchy Thursdays sketch this week due to turkey day but decided to do a card sketch Second Chance Challenge (SCC) instead...we figured 'tis the season for making holiday cards so we thought we'd give you a little extra incentive to get moving!  And how's THIS for incentive:

Yep, that there is a 12 pack of Copic Sketch markers brought to you by our awesome sponsor iCopic.com.  They're up for grabs to one lucky winner for this SCC.  Just hook up your creation (it doesn't have to be a card...just be based on the sketch) to Mr. Linky in the Sketchy Thursdays sidebar by 11:59pm EST Wednesday, 12/2 for your chance to win.

And guess what??!!  If we get 60 or more players, we'll add this to the prize:

Another Copic set - this one the adorable atyou Spica glitter pens!!  That's a chance to win TWO Copic sets!!  TWENTY-FOUR Copic markers in all!!  That's some serious holiday yumminess!!

So, go, hook up your creation and then tell all your friends to do the same so you can have your chance at winning BOTH sets!!

Have a great weekend!!

Splatter Play & Crazy N R G

Happy Monday!!

It's that time for your weekly color and spunky prompt inspiration!

SPLATTER PLAY

We have a fun color combo for you this week on SPCC:

This reminded me of the sign in our playroom that the kids splatter painted a while back:

I was going for a splatter effect with the buttons but I don't think I succeeded.  Oh, well.

Come, PLAY along with us this week on SPCC.  You can create anything your heart desires:  a layout, card, 3D item, anything the colors inspire you to make.

And guess who's back to sponsor this week's prize??!!  iCopic!!!!!!!

Look what's up for grabs:

That's a pack of Multiliner Copic Pens and some Copic paper!!!  YUM!

Hook yourself up to Mr. Linky on THIS POST for your chance to win!!

Details:  Buttons - Stampin' Up!, SEI, unknown; The Paper Company paper; Zig Millennium pen.

CRAZY N R G

For your prompt inspiration this week on Spunky Scrappers we have "Random Thoughts".

Doesn't that remind you of Jack Handy's Deep Thoughts from SNL??  LOL!

So my random thought is WHY is it that the more tired kids are the crazier and more energetic they become??

So, I was thinking about one of those Super Bouncy Balls when I made this because that's exactly what my kids resemble when they're tired.  The literally bounce off the walls.  (Yeah, tired also equals diminished sense of size so that they often misjudge the size of door-and hallways.  LOL.)

Another I-had-this-odd-sized-piece-of-paper-so-I-just-thought-I'd-go-with-it layout.  I even used the top of the paper where it attaches to the paper pad that is meant to be cut off because I love the contrast of the white expanse next to the unfinished edge of the pattern and because I knew just what to do with the hanger hole.

The idea for the scribbled edge frame around the picture comes from a layout by our Sketchy Thursdays November Guest Designer Jennifer Campbell.  Unfortunately, I can't link you direct to the inspiration layout because it won't be revealed until this Thursday BUT be sure to check out her blog to enjoy her wonderful talent!

I liked the way it looked with the end of the string sort of petering out at the end, just like the kids eventually and thankfully do at the end of the night.

Did you know Spunky Scrappers is in the midst of changing from a Ning sight to a Blogspot blog?!!  Woohoo!!  Come on over and check us out!!  No more signing up.  Just follow us!!  It's going to be just that much easier to join in on the weekly prompt fun.

Details:  We R Memory Keepers paper; DMC floss; Brads - Stampin' Up!, Karen Foster.

Hope you are having an awesome Monday!
