I Design With Spunk!!

I am so excited!! I can finally reveal that I am on the brand new Design Team for Spunky Scrappers!! I am so humbled to be in the company of the 6 other DT members who are all some of the most talented and SPUNKY scrappers! Jessica (Euphoria), Wati, Misty, Emily, Kristin, and Brianna! I am not worthy!!!

I promise you we are going to have some F-U-N on Spunky Scrappers!! Join us on our discussion board, share your art in the gallery, and be inspired by Brianna's awesome challenges! There will be weekly prompts for ideas to scrap (with the exception of the first prompt which will be up for 2 weeks...).

The first prompt is (drumroll please!!)...

What makes you spunky?

Here's my take:

I am so lovin' Glitz Design's lines of paper. So fresh and (let's see how many times I can say it in this post) SPUNKY! The color combos are to die for.

At first this layout appears to be pretty simple but there's A LOT going on. Bear with me as I touch on some of the finer points. I had such a great time creating this layout and I want to give it proper explanation.

First of all, how do you like my new DT pic? Thought it made me look like a scrapping cyborg or something! I wouldn't be surprised if that's what my kids think I really look like, with a camera for an eye. I photograph them so much they don't even blink when I start shooting. They probably think it's completely normal...that everyone's mommy takes hundreds of pictures a week of the most mundane daily activities. LOL.

OK, so how much do you LOVE those lollipop flowers? I covered some Fancy Pants chipboard with some of that Martha Stewart fine glitter in Antique Silver and Turquoise. I sealed it all in with a generous coat of Diamond Glaze. (Otherwise that glitter sticks to everything it's so fine. Have you worked with this stuff??!!)

The flowers and flourishes around my pic are cut from some Basic Grey packaging. I love it that so many companies are making a conscious effort to make their packaging just as scrappable as the contents. Plus, nothing better than reusing/recycling and FREE!! Which brings me to my little robot army. These little beauties are from a Kia Automobiles pamphlet!! I've been hoarding them away from my son who's been coveting them from the day he saw them, too.

Of course, I've been doing a lot of messy machine stitching on my layouts lately so I just had to include that on here because it's become quite representative of my style lately.

It's really hard to see in the pictures but I used a couple of Heidi Swapp masks along the left side of the page and spritzed on some Glimmer Mist and dusted on a bit of M.S. glitter.

Don't you just love that "S" in "spunky"? It's a corrugated alpha from Rusty Pickle. So yummy! Can you tell I just love a lot of texture. I like my layouts to be really touchy-feely. (Although REALLY touching one of my layouts may result in loss of limb...Just kidding! Well, sort of. OK. Not really.) I mounted it on a junk mail CD that I first stamped with a sheet music stamp, applied a rub on, punched a few holes with the Crop-A-Dile, and then wove in a bit of sequin trim.

The "P" is a Making Memories mailbox alphabet sticker, which I've probably had since I started scrapping in 2004. I'm pretty sure this was the first letter I've ever used! Gotta say, really liking it! The "U" is a ki memories alphabet soup acrylic letter. So adorable!!

The "N" is a Pressed Petals chipboard letter that's been roughed up a bit. It's topped with a few clear rhinestones that I colored with some alcohol ink. Had a bit of a gap here so there's a Prima crystals sticker issuing from the "N".

I have loved this Prima acrylic "K" since the moment I laid eyes upon it years ago. I'd just never found that perfect layout for it until now. And, finally, the "Y" is a Thicker covered with some more Martha Stewart glitter and Diamond Glaze. I got that black, polka-dotted flower in a class I took at a scrapbook convention a couple years ago so I have no idea who made it.

I so hope you enjoyed my layout and post. Be sure to check out the Spunky Scrappers website for the Design Team reveal today and see all our "spunky" layouts. You will absolutely love what everyone has put together!

Be sure to hook up your "What Makes Me Spunky" layout to the gallery!! We are dying to see everyone's takes!!! Be sure to tag it "SC1".

And join us on Spunky Scrappers every week for a new prompt. We are going to have such a fun time!!
